How To Answer The "Tell Me About Yourself" Question

Follow this structure and you’ll definitely make a great first impression in your interview! Ideally, your answer should be within 1 to 2 minutes. Make sure to tell a mini-narrative through your answer and consider who, what, why, where, when and how in your answer.


1. Don’t just recite your resume, choose specific accomplishments that align with the job description’s requirements and highlight the skills they seek.

2. Practice your answer out loud to ensure it flows naturally and stays within the time limit (1-2 minutes). Tailor your answer to each specific interview by reviewing the job description, company and role.

3. Lastly, show enthusiasm and passion! Let the interviewer know how excited you are about this role and the company.
