How I landed 2 full-time jobs and 2 summer internships in less than 3 months:

I was told by almost everyone how tough the job market is and that it would be impossible to land a job in less than 3 months. However, through cold emailing and Linkedin cold messaging, I found a way. I reached out to people ranging from entry-level employees to senior VPs and directors through this template. Some responded, some didn't. That's normal. Using this template (attached below), I had a really high response rate and caught a lot of people's attention.

Template:

Winterberry Group’s entry-level strategy consultants (titled Analyst) tackle a wide range of consulting and operational assignments in support of the Firm’s growth strategy, mergers and acquisitions, digital transformation, and market intelligence engagements. They are responsible for a variety of tasks that may involve primary and secondary research, thought leadership, marketing and office operations. Analysts also contribute to the development of a range of client deliverables—including business assessments, market landscapes and strategic roadmaps. Limited travel may be required, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Superior presentation abilities and a high degree of organization.

Qualifications:

Applicants MUST either have a PhD from a top-tier university or be actively pursuing a PhD at a top-tier university in the biological sciences or related field.

  • Background in cancer biology, immunology, pharmacology, neurobiology, inflammatory disease, gene therapy, or infectious disease (academic research or other industry related work) is highly desired.

  • You can commit to working up to 10 hours per week, for a minimum period of 6 months.

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiastically apply yourself to new challenges.

  • Readily willing to help colleagues with various tasks.

  • You have a general understanding of the drug development process and emerging therapeutic technologies.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S., without U.S. employer sponsorship

Description:

We are seeking summer intern in the Branford, CT site who is interested in contributing to the discovery of next-generation anti-HIV bio-therapeutics, in particular broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs), through the development and troubleshooting of biochemical, biophysical and functional assays, and using these assays to characterize and select potential drug molecules. The selected candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will have the opportunity to work alongside antibody engineers, protein scientists, virologists, and chemists in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BA or BS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific field.

  • Basic laboratory experience.

  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 12-week internship (May/June - August).

  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience with biochemical and/or biophysical assays.

  • Track record of collaborating in a team-based environment.

  • Attention to detail. Excellent documentation, organization, data analysis and communication skills.

  • Enthusiasm and excitement for drug discovery related technologies.

  • Direct experience with protein related assays would be a plus.

  • Direct experience with automated instrumentation would be a plus.
